Introduction

The Grotesque Guardians are a pair of Gargoyles found atop the Slayer Tower. They are the lowest requirement Slayer boss in the entire game, but offer one of the most visually stunning fights in the entire game. They are the 6th Slayer boss to enter Blurite - only one more to go!

The Fight

The fight with the guardians has currently been emulated to match that in Old School RuneScape, with a small QoL change along the way. In Old School RuneScape, it is possible for the prison attack to happen in way where the gap ends up being against the wall. This isn't too common, but it does happen, and often catches people off guard. Since players only have 2-3 ticks to react to the prison, with some bad camera angles, it is very easy to turn that into an unavoidable damage. As such, I've decided to make it so the gap will never be against the wall - this means the players can click anywhere in the arena to escape from the prison, and it will always move them outside the prison.

Rewards

Rewards is where these bosses get tricky. The rewards in Old School RuneScape are fairly underwhelming, which is a shame. Grotesque guardians are an excellent mid-game boss to do, but there's never any reason to do them, the loot simply sucks, especially considering you need to unlock access to them first, and be on a Slayer assignment to kill them.

As such, I'd love to hear some opinions on what changes we should do to the drop table to make them a viable, exciting boss. It'd be a shame to let one of the most development-wise complicated bosses in the game to go to a waste!

We could improve the supply drops from here - as it is a Slayer boss, it is naturally throttled by the Slayer task requirement. Additionally, we could introduce new rares/uniques from here, perhaps something for the middle game progression, as is it intended to be a mid-game boss after all.
